Tesla hauling…Teslas

A recent siting of a Red Tesla semi truck was seen in Northern California hauling several Tesla Model Y and Model 3 vehicles. Reportedly the truck was delivering Tesla cars to various customers in California.

Elon Musk said in a recent Tweet that Tesla semi trucks can deliver Tesla cars to within California.

Tesla has announced plans for it’s Semi to be available to customers by 2019. After multiple delays, Tesla announced that its electric class 8 trucks wouldn’t be produced and delivered until later in 2021.

The @tesla semi is loading up unreal demand to deliver to customers at the Fremont factory.

“It’s time to go all out and bring the Tesla Semi to volume production. It’s been in limited production so far, which has allowed us to improve many aspects of the design. Production of the battery and power-train would take place at Giga Nevada, with most of the other work probably occurring in other states. Jerome and I are very excited to work with you to bring this amazing product to market,” said Musk in a leaked memo sent to employees.

Along with being the first of their kind the Tesla Semi claims to be the “safest, most comfortable truck ever.” 0-60 mph performance is just under 20 seconds with 80,000 lb. To top it all off Tesla claims 500 mile range on a full charge.

Will the Tesla Semi become mainstream as a truck for the masses and will it be widely accepted by the trucking industry? Initial appearances appear to be positive as it brings the latest in electrical technology to over the road trucking.
